5 Pics From the Harry Potter 6 Premier

Movie Premiers are interesting things.  When I was in London in 2004 my friends and I came across the premier for “Big Fish“.  The street had been blocked off and there was a red carpet for the actors to walk down, while the fans stood outside the “gates” (which were about chest-height).  There were circus performers, which was really cool.  My friends and I had theatre tickets so we had to leave before Ewan McGregor arrived (*sigh*).

It was a very different experience from the Harry Potter 6 premier.

Of course, Harry Potter has a much bigger fandom than Big Fish.  The people I met were really nice, but there were some super-fans in other areas of the crowd.  Point in case, when Tom Felton came over to say “hi” to the fans, some people tried to grab him and in pulling away he almost got hit by a truck (because the streets weren’t blocked off).  After that his security whisked him away post-haste.

So, yeah, maybe they had a point in caging the fans and letting the actors roam free.  Still, it would have been smart to block the street off and not let normal traffic drive through.

I didn’t take many pics of the event (I wasn’t in the best spot), but I did get some nice ones and some blurry ones.  So here are some of my “better” shots.

PREMIER DAY!

We wanted those posters so bad.

[This was the location across the street where all the actors walked down.  As you can see, we weren’t that close.]

There was a lot of this.
This was either Tom Felton or Emma Watson’s entrance.
Look! It's blurry Emma Watson and the back of Rupert Grint's head!

Alan Rickman giving the fans some attention. He's awesome.

Quite the experience indeed.
