Everytime I think of this trip I think about how I could have planned it better (if I’d done any actual planning).
We had no idea where to eat in St. John’s. There were lots of places downtown and we considered quite a few – but then a friend told us about Folly – where the pizzas are named after characters in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles“.

The place was super cute, the decor was interesting (even the bathrooms looked cool). R and I laughed about how the Michelangelo pizza was the daily special (since he was a “special” guy), then ordered the Casey Jones pizza (chicken).
It looks like this place is now closed, though, which makes me sad. So many good places have been lost in time.
Still open, though, is Moo Moo’s Ice Cream (aka the building painted like a cow).

I had the Turtle Cheesecake ice cream again (it’s so good). R doesn’t really like ice cream so she didn’t have any (her loss). What was great, though, was her reaction to seeing the beer fridge.
- “You sell beer in an ice cream store?”
- “Yeah. Most corner stores in Newfoundland sell beer.”
- “Seriously?”
- “In university you could buy beer from the gas station at the bottom of the hill.”
- “Damn.”
And that’s why Newfoundland is awesome.
