Berlin was great, but it was only the first stop on our Euro-Trip. This meant that we eventually had to leave. I really had a great time in Berlin – there was so much to see, so much to do, so much marzipan and chocolate to eat… Every time I think about this trip I think about how much I want to go back someday.
My sister and I stayed at A&O in Mitte (the hotel part, not the hostel part), which was pretty cheap. We had our own room with 2 twin beds and private bathroom. We were a couple blocks away from the subway and a local shopping area.
I drooled at boots in the window of a nearby store, found way too much enjoyment in the colourful sushi wrappers at Papa No, purchased a Batman comic in German, ate way too many pastries at the nearby bakery, and ordered at a restaurant just because they used chinese-style take-out containers.
We watched German dubs of “The Nanny” and “Mythbusters” at night. I grew accustomed to room-temperature cola & orange fanta. Nutella snacks were everywhere.
However you say it, I had a good time in Berlin. The only thing that could tear me away was the promise of other exciting cities to visit and the call of first-class seating on our train to Vienna.
Yeah, that’s right. First-class.
Next stop – Vienna.
