The Sundial at Tower Hill

Did you know that there is a giant sundial at Tower Hill?  I didn’t – until I went to that particular stop for a Jack The Ripper Walking Tour.

I arrived early, while there was still sunlight, so I decided to pass the time looking at the sundial.  Around the outside edge are important moments in London’s history.

History, all the way around.

I got a close up of a few of the historical moments:

London was destroyed by fire in 1106 and 1136. Ouch.

This website lists some (not all) of the historical events and has a lot more pictures than I have.  I didn’t take pictures of everything, but I did take a picture of my favorite:

The beheading of Charles I - complete with decapitated head.
