Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, which means that Wednesday is New Year’s Day. As that song asks – “What are you doing New Years, New Years Eve“?
If you’re in Halifax, you can go to HRM’s Party on the Parade. Held at Parade Square (downtown Halifax), it’s a concert that runs from 9:30pm to 12:30am. The concert is headlined by David Myles, and will include: Willie Stratton & The Boarding Party, Blueberry Grunt, and Asia and NuGruv. There will also be fireworks at midnight – fireworks!
There are more suggestions in this week’s The Coast (Halifax’s free weekly What’s-Going-On paper); plus a link at the bottom of that page for even more suggestions.
Some parties that caught my eye:
- Gonzo New Year’s Eve (I know some of the people involved in this, and it looks quite interesting)
- Dance of the Senses (pricey, but interesting)
- Hatfield Farm’s New Year’s Eve (for all you country folk out there)
- New Year’s Eve at the Oval (free skating!)
And that doesn’t include the DJ’s, musical acts, or restaurants that are all having parties around the city. There’s a lot going on tomorrow night.
My New Year’s Eve plans will be a little less crazy. Most likely I’ll hang out with a few friends, watch movies and have a drink or two (drink responsibly, y’all). I’ll probably also pass on the whole resolution-making-thing.
However you’re celebrating the New Years, have some fun and spend it with people you like. And if you can, see some fireworks!
