The Distillery District

After my experience in the area around Tarragon Theatre (and my furtive search for a restaurant/café), I was worried that there might not be much around Soulpepper.  The theatre was located in the Distillery District, but I didn’t know much else.

I had been planning on eating downtown, near the AGO, but I simply wasn’t hungry.  After shopping a bit, I decided to make my way to Soulpepper and see what was going on in the Distillery District.  Turns out – lots.

Lovely day for a wander.
Lovely day for a wander.

After getting tickets for “12 Angry Men” I went for a bit of a wander.  I still wasn’t very hungry, but I could see more than a few places where someone could go for food (including the theatre café), or a snack on a patio.  I ended up getting gelato (because I’m an adult and if I want to have ice cream for dinner I can), and buying a chocolate bar with chillies at Soma Chocolate.  The gelato was good, but the chocolate bar could have used more chilli in it (instead of just an uneven smattering of flakes on the back of the bar).

The shops were getting ready to close, so I mostly wandered and window-shopped.

I'm assuming these giant things would be used in a giant distillery.

I also discovered this… giant sculpture, which lights up at night.

It’s a nice little area.  You could do a bit of shopping, get a bite to eat, and then go to a show all within a few blocks.

And maybe add a lock of your own.
